The firm was founded as Clarke Associates Architecture/Urban Design Ltd. in 1992 by Robert Clarke in Clerkenwell, London, following a successful entry in the gateway to Venice competition for the Venice Biennale of that year.
Over the years the practice evolved and in 2014 the decision was made to rebrand the firm as a:rc, architecture:robertclarke. We are driven by our strong company values of Quality, Integrity, Professionalism and Sustainability.

Robert is a Graduate of The Mackintosh School in Glasgow and holds a Post Graduate MA in Urban Design. He founded the practice in 1992 following a successful entry in the Venice Biennale competition.
